Did you know that the planets make sounds? I didn't either until I read about it and then heard some recordings... But when you think about it, it makes sense. They spin. And when something spins, it disturbs the atoms around it, and sound is created. Don't ask me about the physics of it, though, since I was of the impression that space was "empty", and therefore had no atoms to disturb. But apparently that's another "fact" that is not entirely true.....
At any rate, the thought of the "music of the spheres" crossed my mind as I watched the eclipse the other day. I wished I could listen to the moon as it bravely crossed in front of the sun....giving us a few moments of darkness..... A chance to look at the sun's magnificent glowing edges and appreciate it's power and majesty. And a chance to appreciate the moon... something we usually see as a reflection, got to show up as a "black hole" of sorts....very powerful!
There are so many sounds that we miss......so many lovely sounds....... I wonder what an eclipse sounds like?
